Type 1 Jail Specific Courses

Type 1 Jails are pre-arraignment booking facilities. They are usually called police precinct lockups, sheriff's substation detention facilities, or police department holding facilities, police prebooking facilities, short or limited term jails. These limited term lockups and prearraignment detention facilities hold adult criminal offenders 96 hours (4 days) or less. In most states these short time jails hold juvenile criminal offenders 8 hours or less. Some Type 1 Jails hold prisons on contracts with state and federal government or on court orders. Police and Sheriif's jail facilities have public works in lieu of jail time programs.
